B@O — Be Aware Online
A cooperative game to explore the Internet jungle safely.
B@O helps children and young people recognise risky situations online, choose the right response and talk about it. The project comes as a cooperative board game and an accessible online game (Easy Read), with resources for schools and families.
2 to 4 players ages 6 and up about 20 min
Two ways to play
A board to cooperate, an online game to practise
Both games tackle the same issues: safety, personal data, cyberbullying and critical thinking about information.

B@O, the board game
The friends of Bao the panda set off on an adventure in the Internet jungle. Together, the players solve worrying situations with the action cards: everyone wins or loses together.
Rules, levels and simulatorB@O, the online game
A game that is easy to read and understand, designed for pupils with special educational needs. Available in French, English and Swedish, with a teacher’s booklet.
Overview and access to the gameWhat the game works on
Four key topics at the heart of B@O
Every card and every tile in the game relates to one of these four topics.
Cyberbullying
Recognise it, respond, talk about it — and know the actions that protect.
Critical thinking
Fake news, hoaxes, disguised advertising: question, check, don’t pass it on.
Internet safety
Passwords, strangers, trick links, personal data.
Digital addiction
Switching off every day as a habit, not as a punishment.
Safe habits
Five actions that protect… and a joker
The game’s action cards form the set of responses a child should know when faced with an uncomfortable situation online.
Where to start?
You are…
A teacher
Play in class, hold debates, have pupils create new cards: a ready-to-use progression from cycle 2 to cycle 3 (ages 6–11).
A parent or family
Understand what your child is learning, play together at home and know the safe habits.
A school leader or district team
A cross-curricular cycle 3 project (ages 9–11) at the FabLab: make the game, play it, pass it on to families.
Cross-curricular project · cycle 3 (ages 9–11)
Make, play, pass it on
Pupils make the whole B@O game at the FabLab, play it up to expert level, then lend it to families: they become the ambassadors of online safety at home.

On video
The online game presented by the Académie
Designed by the Hérault departmental service for inclusive education with English and Swedish partners, the online game supports pupils with mild disabilities or special educational needs in their everyday use of the Internet and social networks.
B@O: I play → I think → I explain → I create → I test → I improve.
The motto to display in class, turning B@O into an evolving resource in which pupils become the players, experts, authors and mediators.
